About EMGA
Business Leaders coming together to strengthen early childhood education
EMGA is an alliance of current and retired business professionals focused on the critical relationship between access to high-quality early education and our State’s long-term economic success.
EMGA is dedicated to bringing the business voice to the table where appropriate to help ensure young children in Central Texas reach their full potential by entering kindergarten prepared to learn and succeed.
In 2018, United Way for Greater Austin and E3 Alliance formed EMGA to mobilize and unite the business community around the goal that children in Greater Austin enter Kindergarten prepared for school success. EMGA also encourages Austin-area employers to adopt family-friendly policies because supportive workplace policies increase organization productivity and support the physical and emotional health of employees and their families.
EMGA’s work is part of a collective impact initiative – the Austin/Travis County Success By 6 Coalition – led by United Way for Greater Austin.
Statewide, EMGA joins the collaborative efforts of Dallas, San Antonio, El Paso, and Waco under the leadership of Early Matters Texas to collaborate on statewide support and advocacy for early childhood development.
EMGA’s work is divided into three pillars:
Influencing Policy
Advocate for local and statewide policy and funding to increase access to high-quality early education.
Promoting Best Place for Working Parents
Family-friendly workplace practices are a baseline for improving conditions for young children and families.
Advancing Innovation
Incubate, pilot and scale innovative solutions to challenges of access and affordability in the early-childhood sector.
HIGH-QUALITY EARLY LEARNING FOR ALL CHILDREN CAN CHANGE THE ECONOMIC TRAJECTORY OF OUR REGION IN ONE GENERATION.
This is a critical time for Austin's business leaders to lend their experience, influence and voice to reinvent early childhood education in Texas. Strategic investments in early childhood development and learning are critical for supporting the workforce of today and preparing the workforce of tomorrow.
